Teething and regressions

My 16 month old is getting his molars and is veryyyy cranky these days. He also got a fever due to changing weather and is more irritable. He has recovered from the fever but not eating properly. I never had an issue with feeding him various foods but since 3 days he has not been eating proper and my stress levels are at the highest rn. He would wake up in the middle of the night crying and during the day, he would start crying out of nothing. Does that mean his teething is responsible for all of this? Is anyone else experiencing the same? How are you dealing with this? I am really worried about his diet.

Teething is so rough! It certainly could be responsible for everything you mentioned. (Imagine if your mouth was getting bit from the inside out!) What’s nice is, it’s something that will end eventually. In the meantime though, two things in particular have worked wonders for me! I would use an amber necklace (do your research, find an authentic amber and know how to keep your baby safe with it), and on the rare occasion that my twins were still “teething grumpy” (they’re pulling at their ears or biting down more), I rub coconut oil on their gums and that calms them down pretty quick. Best of luck!

Definitely sounds like it’s all from teething. Don’t worry about his diet, it’s only temporary and toddlers are really good about listening to their hunger cues - they just don’t get very hungry while teething! If you give him milk, it’s okay for him to primarily be drinking milk during this time. Just cut him back down and go back to solids when he’s feeling better. Be careful with amber necklaces, each parent is allowed to do what they want but the FDA says they’re not safe due to choking and strangulation hazards. We use a teething ring we got at Walmart that can go in the fridge so it’s cold and it really soothes my son’s gums. You can get fruit feeders and fill them with frozen fruit for a similar effect. If my son’s pain seems unbearable we’ll give him Motrin, just reach out to your pediatrician for the correct dosing. Good luck mama 🫶🏻

This is how my daughter was too when she got her molars a month ago. I gave her extra milk during the day because she just did not want to eat anything unless it was super soft but even that was hit or miss. It’s rough but hang in there 💜

What the other parents mentioned sound about right. My best friend has also been Orajel and a 360 toothbrush. I rub orajel all over the bristles on the toothbrush and hand it to him and he'll bite on his molars on both sides and that'll help numb it. He wouldnt let me use my fingers which is why I used the 360 brush.

Teething for sure. We ended up in the ER with my little guy. 103 fever, rapid breathing, and very sluggish just to find out the next morning he had a molar through. My son is 16 months and has all his teeth. Currently working on the 2 year molars. We've done all the teething tricks in the book. I swear by cold celery sticks as a teether!
