Entertainment

Hi all. How do you all keep your little ones entertained during their wake hours. Feeling like such a bad mom because I just don’t know what to do with her😢😢😢

Hey lovely, don't ever feel bad. Babies are entertained by their surroundings just as much as the toys etc. Everything is new to them! My girl goes between her mat and swing both with toys, otherwise she just comes around the house with me watching me do boring stuff lol We of course go out for walks and in the garden too, and we are attending a church playgroup next week. Rhyme time on YouTube is great too! Day time baths are always a hit to splash around in, dance to your favourite music, or just lay on your bed together and chat :) You're doing great xx

I sing to my LO, we dance around and sing. He loves it and giggles throughout. We have time on the play mat and tummy time, with me and independently (when I'm playing with him, he just stares at me rather than entertaining himself haha) It's so hard to know what to do with them when they're so little. Sometimes we just chat away and pull faces. Don't feel bad!!! It's all new to us all 🥰 xx

I do my best impression of the village idiot, I narrate my entire life, story time, cuddles, contact naps, sometimes I have her on my thighs and I just hold both my hands up and let her grab my hands, nursery rhymes, singing, talking about the contents of her arse and telling her she's got a stinky bum usually gets a few giggles, but a lot of time she's just on her playmate having a look at toys and playing although the past few days she's had 0 interest in me or toys 😕 Sang 5 little ducks yesterday with no reaction

We have a chat, go to a baby group/rhyme or story time at the library or a walk/read a book/have a little dance party with nursery rhymes playing from YouTube/have her in her high chair so she can see me do stuff in the kitchen or fold laundry/put her down on her playmat so she can play with the toys/tummy time. Not every thing everyday though 😂

Don’t be scared to let them have independent play on a mat with toys or play gym. I do chores when my little one is awake not asleep, so I’ll put her in her high chair with toys and sing alone with her while I do dishes etc.

Thank you all🩷🩷

We spend most of our time listening to music but he doesn’t mind if I put an audio book on too 🤣 the music might just be background noise, calming for my dog or me singing nursery rhymes and dancing along. Otherwise we will go for a walk, goes on play-mat or activity seat, sit on garden, sit and chat together and FT my sister who also has a baby of similar age. And we just repeat it as needed. The days we do massage or some kind of sensory activity or a bath are a hit with him, but we don’t do them everyday. Today we spent all morning napping feeding, reading and chatting in bed until 3pm 🤷🏼‍♀️ x

@Alesha this is so real. Thank you 💓💓

Honestly I just take whatever is around us at the time and pretend it's a character that likes running and jumping on him. I literally found an old pair of His jeans and pretended it was a helicopter circling him and he loved it, honestly give anything a voice and random movements they like it xx

We can put them in a high chair already?

@Alesha what sensory activities do you do?

@Donna we have a newborn insert for our high chair still. I think it depends on how stable your baby is…I don’t think ours is quite ready for the baby inset yet.

@Donna things like putting tin foil, wrapping paper and other bits from around the house on the floor with him to feel different textures and hear different sounds. My lb loves laying on tinfoil/foil blanket. We play with ribbons and feathers. The water mat. Different lights and music. Playing with water. Baby massage too. X

@Alesha can you just use regular tin foil or is it sharp?
