Am I overreacting?!

My daughter is 3 in October, she’s been potty trained a few months but is not capable of going independently; since she’s returned to nursery she’s come home twice with poo in her underwear, this doesn’t happen at home or anywhere else. I feel cross because I have no idea how long she’s been like this and she could get a urine infection. I want to raise it with the nursery but my mum says I’m complaining about nothing. What would you do?

I would mention it but don't complain straight away. Just say you've noticed poo in her underwear

I would speak with the nursery. It’s not right but they need a chance to put it right before officially complaining. I expect they assumed she was more capable than she is with wiping etc and have left her to it innocently

It could also be she’s not gone to the toilet when she’s needed too or not asked to go… it happened to mine when starting school, they don’t ask or don’t want to stop playing so results in accidents… don’t assume it’s a wiping issue

Definitely bring it up with the nursery, but then if it happens again take it higher. It might just be that they aren't helping her wipe, or maybe she's holding it too long and is then smearing. Hopefully once they're made aware they'll be on top of it and it won't happen again.

Thanks everyone!

I would speak to nursery, and ask if they are helping, or if your daughter says she can do it herself. My daughter says she can, but she definitely can't, so I asked nursery if they could check after she's been
