Second baby debate!

Does anyone’s partner not want a second baby? We had a little boy a year ago and we love him, I would love another baby, to complete the family but my partner is happy with one. I know if we had a girl first we’d have tried for a second to have a boy… We’ve spoken about it a couple of times and he said maybe once but since then, just no he’s happy with one. He’s an only child and I’m from a big family! How do we overcome this x

I think having a baby when one person isn’t into it is a bad idea cos of course even though he’d love the baby naturally there’s always the risk of it causing him stress etc and then leading to resentment etc between you. Of course it might be great if you convinced him and it worked out but I feel like it’s a risk! Is it something you discussed before having your first? X

For context my husband would be happy for another but doesn’t mind either way whereas I’m one and done 100%, even though we’d always said two, and he’s very much of the opinion that seeing as I’d have to carry/breastfeed/be main caregiver is basically up to me 😂

We have 2 boys with nice 7 year age gap which is nice, the gender of our kids hasn’t even been mentioned you get what you get at the end of the day. If you had another boy would you still want to have another one in the hopes you’d get a girl and where do you draw the line of stopping. I’m not bothered about having another one just so see if we can have a girl, both me and hubby are from big family’s and we don’t wants that for us we’re happy with just the 4 of us for alot of reasons but the biggest is financial. having another child is a huge deal and if he’s happy with one then that’s something your going to have to sit down and talk about and see just what his objections are. I know someone who only wanted one child for financial reasons and his gf went and got pregnant again not long after the first one so they had 2 under 2 this has caused a huge problem in their relationship and it’s very rocky for them now and I don’t think they are going to survive it.
