It's so concerning, I felt anxious before having my baby for sure! Thankfully the team at Salisbury Hospital were brilliant, so i felt very looked after, but I know that's not the case for everyone. Ask on your local FB pages for peoples experiences of your local hospitals, as this will give you an idea of where u might want to have your baby xx
I’m under Shrewsbury and Telford ,had my first child shortly before all the issues came out. I have heard they are much better now after all the spotlight/media about them 🤞🏼
It’s totally understandable to worry! Have you read your local hospitals cqc, that will give you an overview of the maternity unit.
I'll be honest this is kind of recycled news, the birth trauma enquiry was released a few months ago and that really shone a light on things. but it's the same story across the NHS, not just maternity services
My maternity wards are in Leicester and they're all inadequate and it makes me feel sick to the stomach
Sadly this isn’t news, those of us working in maternity have been screaming it from The roof tops for years but the powers that be just wouldn’t listen! The services have been neglected and on their knees for years! It’s a vicious circle, the newly qualified staff don’t stay because the working conditions just aren’t great and they can get the same or more money with far less responsibility and risk of being sued doing less demanding jobs! I’ve been qualified 9years and was on the verge of walking away from the NHS last year because the demands of the service and the unsafe situations we were frequently left it all got too much. Thankfully I moved trusts and job roles and it saved my career but many others didn’t!
