Gestational Diabetes

I have to track my blood sugar three times a day for the remaining weeks of my pregnancy. so to make this easier on myself I need to find the best app to help me remember when to check and a safe place to put all of my numbers.

I have a suggestion , ask you ObGyn to prescribe you for a CMG ( Continuous Monitoring glucose ) monitor those patches which you see folks wearing . To get one needs a prescription and show you are a potential candidate . If you can get your doc to do that it’s going to be a savior .

@Nikki but apparently it doesn’t test your blood as accurately as the pricking one. It’s also rarely covered by insurance 😥

I have PCOS I don't have an app I just write everything down on a piece of paper what I eat and what the numbers are I did not pass my glucose drink with my last pregnancy so I definitely want to pass it with this one Check your sugar first thing when you wake up It needs to be less than a 100 between 70 and 100 You're on the right track The first time you put something in your mouth you time 2 hours A lot of women get confused about that for breakfast First bite start the timer Your number should be under 120 Do that with every meal and the next time you go to the docthere let them see the numbers They will let you know if you need something Try to eat a balanced meal your food groups Protein vegetables , Stick with berries as your fruit Until you see your numbers Less than 40 carbs permeal I have this helps Good luck When it comes to a glucose monitor you can get them pretty cheap If you have a Sam's club you can get a whole kit for 26 .00 Strips are between 8 and $11 for a 100 strips

I just used paper logs to track mine when I had GD. My doctors office provided them. If I was going to be away from the log sheet, I would text myself the readings so I could go back and enter in when I was able.

@Danielle I agree but it’s something for overall blood sugar tracking. When I took the glucose tolerance test I was nervous coz they make you drink a hell lotta sugar empty stomach but seeing my levels was validating that my insulin is doing well and I am able to process sugars as expected. I’m not into being pricked everyday , there are great studies with CGM plus it’s better than not knowing how ur assimilating sugars .

That isn’t the one I used. But, there are others online you can download.

@Ashley diet is the key as your saying. Couple of things to explore are in every meal of yours re-arrange the order of macros you consume. Eg: target to get your protein as 1st things on ur plate, as proteins don’t spike your insulin and it take time to digest which is why they are best for satiation . Then fiber then fat and last ur carbs by then the effect of carb in ur blood sugar is quite stable .

@Nikki I agree and also I do recommend every pregnancy mother to go to a nutritionist to get tips and understanding of what you need to eat I've seen a lot of people eat fast food they whole pregnancy and it's not good for you or the baby it leads to a lot of health problems

These were my scores. I failed because my fasting numbers were abnormal at 93

@Danielle Did you do this blood work fasting or you just ate normal and did blood work

@Danielle oh I see now they got u to drink to Sugar drink am I correct

@Ashley yes the sugar drink and testing every hour

@Ashley the hemoglobin test was after I ate normal

Those are good numbers if you're not pregnant but unfortunately while pregnant those are definitely numbers to keep A eye on I know it's scary I promise you it's not our fault it's our hormones and And the growing pleasanter Just keep going keep watching what you eat And ask questions see if you can go to a nutrition appt normally it's free Just remember getting help and having a little help To keep your numbers good it's gonna help you and Your beautiful baby
