Gestational Diabetes

Anyone else get diagnosed with GD? Any tips? Anyone know what this means for baby? Obviously counting carbs now and eliminating sugar from my diet but like I’m still freaked out.

Focusing on getting protein in your diet —especially breakfast. I had to also have a protein snack (yogurt, peanut butter w/apples) before bed to regulate fasting blood sugar levels

It’s not as bad as it seems (: As long as you keep your blood sugars controlled your baby will be fine ❤️❤️ Very low carbs, and absolutely no sugar! When baby is born baby will need their sugars read. My hospital said he’d have to pass 3 before he can be cleared to leave. He failed the first one but passed the next 3. They say the risk are larger babies, pre mature labor, higher risk for diabetes in the future for you both. My water broke at 38+5 weeks and my son came 36 hours later and he was 7.1 pounds (: We are now at a year and he’s doing fantastic. My GD disappeared right after birth and I’m pretty sure I have it again with my twins, I have to go do another 1 hour test to see, my anomic fluid is high which I guess is a sign.

String cheese before bed helps lower your sugars! ❤️ my mom taught me this hack so I’d have a cheese stick or two every night

@Autumn surprisingly my fasting sugar and 1 hour sugar was within normal. It was my 2 and 3 hours weren’t low enough

@Vanessa my fasting sugar was totally normal and so was my 1 hour. My 2 and 3 hour were high 😞

I had it with my first and likely have it with this pregnancy as well, just waiting to do my 3 hour test until I’m off night shift. It was diet controlled with my first. I just ate low carb and did my best to eliminate super sugary drinks and foods. My baby was not very big she was 6lbs 14oz. I think the biggest concern was shoulder dystocia during delivery, which can be from GD. I’m kind of worried for this delivery bc I really do not want a c section but shoulder dystocia is also v scary.

That’s how my test went too But when I was checking sugars it was only my fasting that would sometimes be high
