Weaning

Babies born in April 2024 our babies are almost ready for weaning next month! How are other mums approaching this? 😆🙊 I feel so confused with it all! Where to even start! Anyone else? Xxx

I’ve got an online course with the HV. Watched some YouTube. Have a book. I am to do 1 veg at a time for 3 days starting with 🥦

I’ll do baby led weaning again so whatever I’m eating (served appropriately so as not to be a choking hazard) whenever she’s awake. Will do pancakes as the first food same as the last two 😊

@Hayley Hi, thanks for sharing. What online course and what youtube did you do?

@Sammy through my HV & just using dieticians advice on YouTube 🥦

Mine's so hungry and went over 75 percentile so I've started adding oats, rice, banana, sweet potato, squash, pear to her formula and she LOVES IT. Just enough to thicken it, nothing too much. Once she's 6 months we'll swap to purées and adding other veg/fruit to the list. Fruit in the day, cereal/veg in the evening as a general rule.

Baby rice to begin with and some puree i think, i want to do a mix of puree and BLW so once’s my sons been

Starting with veg 1 at a time then will introduce fruit then meals, planning to offer puree as well as something for him to hold e.g. steam carrot finger and carrot puree to see what he prefers for the first couple of weeks

Have a look at the purple Ella’s kitchen weaning book x

The how to wean your baby book is all you need and gives you a plan for the first 30 days starting with broccoli. Did it with my son who is now a great eater and now with my daughter. x

Think this time I'm doing BLW did puree with my son and he now lives off beige food so totally didn't work for him. Starting off with veg etc then introducing meals we eat then thr likes of fruit etc last

@Elsa the one with Charlotte sterling reed? Ps thank you xx

@Nikita yes, its really my favourite book in the world as its very easy to read and to the point. Its on amazon. xx

Also I do think BLW helped although my son refused it until 8 months so only had purees originally. The book recommends a mixed approach and explains the benefits. Finally if you do offer BLW the free version of the solid starts app tells you how to offer each food based on a baby’s age. Oh and the bibado coveralls help with the mess. x
