Folsom

Im not from there but ive gone up there a lot for mini vacations to go see like placerville and stuff, and depending where in folsom its actually really nice like near the sams club, the houses up on the hills are super nice

We have family in Folsom as my husband is from NorCal.. I’ll actually be up there in a few weeks for a baby shower don’t get me wrong.. it’s a beautiful little town and NorCal has things we don’t ( more seasonal changes, leaves in fall, summer is like hell hot, etc) but the vibe is very very different from SoCal… so if you love SoCal it could be a hard adjustment. Not as much diversity in food , no beaches… again things that might not matter but good to note.

@Lauren Yeah thats true, im from the bay so NorCal. And up a little head of Folsom in Placerville it yearly snows at least a bit and even sac had some snow lol and I bet you guys dont have snow at all 🤣

I just moved to So Cal after living in the Sacramento Area (Citrus Heights) for two years. Folsom is a lovely city with plenty of things to do. Expensive for sure but so nice to visit. If it’s in your price range to live there comfortably, I recommend it. It’s a great suburban area that is just nature filled. Lots of schools in the sacramento school district are great and I had plenty of corworkers who loved their kids schools in that area. May - August is basically hot Summer weather (no different than So Cal), so don’t get rid of your So Cal wardrobe haha.

@Divinity i don't agree with this. There is no snow in Sacramento, especially not folsom. Placerville is 25 minutes further up the mountains where it does snow.

@Kelsey There was snow once or twice, I said had snow. Never said it was a common thing. It was actually very rare but it still happened, has that ever happened in socal yet? Cuz idk

@Kimberly uhhhh I mean I’ve been up there when it’s 100+ lol… your weather up there is definitely hotter than here… down here anything above 85 is hot… lol Especially if your like me and live by the beach… no AC because a lot of us don’t need it- most the time my house is 67-70 lol

@Divinity fair point. I guess all my years of working in 100+ degree summers at Disneyland made me immune to the difference😅😅😅 like this past summer in so cal was awful and when I visited a few weeks ago it felt the exact same since it was 90+ in Sac.

I currently live part of the year in Los Angeles and part in Sacramento. I went to high school in fair oaks and currently live in rosemont with my 1 year old. I agree with the posters, Folsom is a very nice area and very nice to raise a family if you're looking for the suburban experience with access to a river and hiking trails.

So I am currently living in Orange county, do you think its costlier in Folsom than here? Atleast the houses are way more affordable compared to Orange county, I want to know about the other living expenses

Jobs are remote for now , we are both in IT. Still researching for available job options nearby if we have to switch jobs in future. Thats one area yet to discover more on

Not living there but my family is from the area and I love it up there. I miss it so much. Honestly if I had to move anywhere else it would probably be up there around the area’

I used to live there it is great for families so much to do! You’ll love it You have the mountains close by for a weekend get away and the city for activities with the kids. Also it’s a ghost town, even though it’s pretty big the downtown area is beautiful and during the holidays they do ice skating downtown it’s honestly one of the best places I’ve lived at! Depends on what part of the town you choose to live in be careful with the rattles 🫶🏽
