Potty training

Just a quick question but how do you potty train a toddler with autism? He is 2 and a half. Has no communication with us and isn't aware of himself going in his nappy so I'm not sure how we're supposed to teach him to use a potty if he doesn't know he's doing it. Is he just not ready yet?

I was able to potty train my non verbal autistic 2 year and 9 months, you can send me a dm and we can talk more.

If he is not aware that he is going, he is not ready. Don’t force it. My son is 4, has autism and is currently non verbal, we just potty trained him this summer before he started reception, we knew he was ready because every time he did a number 1 or 2 in his nappy he would take the nappy off straight away Be patient girl x

I had my non verbal autistic daughter completely potty trained by 2. Then she got bad constipation and refused to use the potty or toilet. Only a nappy. She's now 7. Still poo withholding and in nappies. She completely regressed and seems almost scared of the toilet. It's so hard to know what to do.
