Pay

Do we go up a pay scale even if we've been on maternity leave for a year?

I did! I left my school for maternity, did supply for a year and when I when back permanently to a school they put me up from M2 to M4 - have no idea why I jumped an extra but I think you’re still entitled to pay increases whilst on maternity leave

My assumption was that it’s dependent on your professional development targets but would love to know for sure!

Yes, you should

I didn’t - I hadn’t met targets as I hadn’t been there.

@Steph out of interest, how much of the academic year did you work for before going on maternity leave?

1/2 a term then off until Easter then back for the summer term. Edit - I probably won’t get one this time either after working 2 terms in a row and leaving for the summer term.

Should do - I got an email today from deputy head saying I need to submit paperwork to go from U1 to U2 and that I could come into school to do it and they'd pay me for it as a KIT day. Even allowed to bring baby in if I can't find childcare.

Yes

I emailed NEU for that and they said that we should! going back to work in Jan and wondering what they say..

When I asked SLT, they said no one has gone up a pay scale yet because it needs to be discussed with the governors first

Maybe I'll contact my union to get clearer information

I’m confused about this too Some schools go up every year with experience which happened to me when I worked in Scotland but in my school in England everything is appraised
