Toilet training!

Mamas I need some advice as I’m going absolute mental!! I started toilet training my son at the beginning of summer holidays, I keep asking him every 10-15 mins and I keep taking him and puttin him on the potty and sometimes he’ll do a wee, other times he’ll sit there and nothing. When he does a wee I’ll praise him and encourage him so next time he tells me himself but 6 weeks later and I’m going absolute mental cuz he just isn’t understanding that you need to tell mama when you need the toilet. He’ll do a wee and poo and then come show me that I’ve done it. I’ve told him nicely, I’ve told him off but he just isn’t getting it into his head. He’s started pre school and they have to be toilet trained so I’m sending him in his pull ups but when he comes home the pull up is wet! I really don’t kno what to do anymore. I’m sick of cleaning wee 3-4x a day Is there anything that helped you or your children plz help!!

It's a long ride with my son too. Nothing on the bottom, he's perfect. I don't need to remind him. He just says mammy I need the toilet and takes himself to toilet. No accidents. Try with pants, at first he was doing so well but now just accidents. So I know he knows what to do but I can't leave the house with no pants on him 🤣 Its such a hard journey for some parents and children. Xx

We’re on the long journey too! We started ages ago, admittedly have been quite chilled about it but my daughter can wee and poo, if I take her to the toilet. But still will not tell me when she needs the toilet. If she has her big girl pants on, she often will hold it in. Honestly, I think some kids just take longer than others and don’t put pressure on yourself or him. He’ll get there eventually x

I’ve tried with pants too and still constantly asking him if he needs to go and he’ll say no and 5 mins later he’ll be soaking wet and come and show me 🤦🏻‍♀️ I feel as I’m going round and round in circles and it’s very draining

@Ruth Hi Ruth just wondering if you’ve tried trousers with no underwear? We did this for a few weeks then moved to wearing underwear and it’s gone great. I read the ‘oh crap potty training’’ and this is what it’s recommended to do. I know they’re all so different so it’s hard to know what’s right x

@Sophie I tried once but will try again. I bought that book but wasn't overly keen. Found it bit patronising and felt guilty xx
