Paternity

My partner goes back to work on Monday. I had an emergency C section 2 weeks ago. I'm still in pain and I still can't do heavy lifting. I'm worried about how I can cope with looking after my baby by myself when he goes back to work. Any advice or tips for easing the pain?

Let your partner set things up for you before he leaves, so you are doing less bending / moving. For example my partner put all the things I’d need to make a meal with at my hight, not having to bend down to the lower cabinets. I also got a litter picker grabber stick for if I dropped some thing. I also used the pram a lot to move her around in so I wasn’t carrying her anywhere I didn’t need to as I could move it really close to me.

Listen to your body and don’t over do it. The first 7ish weeks, I literally done nothing and just soaked up baby snuggles on the sofa. I started doing housework after 7 weeks but only did one thing a day. I.e washing one day, hoovering next, then mopping etc and eased myself back into it If you’re still in pain, keep on top of the meds but take it easy You’ve got this mama ❤️

I had an infection and was in pain for 6/8 weeks. My advice is just do as much as you can but know your limitations. I walked home from the hospital 😂😂 keep on top of your paracetamol and ibuprofen. Don't skip it, it'll bite you in the arse. You'll be amazing xx

Get a grabber stick. Absolute life saver 😂

Try to have a little walk each day get your body used to moving again, even if only round the house or popping baby in the pram and walk up the street and back at a nice slow pace, defo keep on top of pain killers, with my first section I didn't need them by the end of 2 weeks but with my second I wasn't as on the ball and was still taking them about 4 weeks pp. When sat down relaxing have everything within grabbing distance so you aren't stretching to reach for things, cpuld also try hot/cold packs for easing pain when sat down

I’m 2 week pp today with a c section, I’m trying to walk 40 mins every day and it seems to be helping as I’m pushing my body to be on top of it!
