Often undiagnosed constipation can be a #1 cause of not wanting to poo on the toliets. My pediatrician suspected this and we gave him miralax for a few days and finally got his first poo on the toliet.
My twin boys are exactly the same! So you aren’t alone! They tell us they need to go but as soon as we put them on the toilet they say they don’t need to go..it goes on and on and then they either hold it until bedtime when we put a pull up on them or they go in there pants or we manage to catch the start and get them to finish in the toilet! We have tried so many things but just can’t get them to do be comfortable doing it 😔 xx
I did some bribing/rewarding initially. At the time he really liked chocolate coated peanuts so that’s what I used to offer. The first time he did a poo on the toilet he was a little surprised/ scared, he jumped off the toilet in surprise.
Thanks everyone. We have tried bribing with chocolate/present. We even say to him we will go to the toy shop now if he goes on the toilet but nothing is working. We have also tried the blowing bubbles into a cup. He just says he is scared but doesn’t tell us what he is scared of. Hopefully like you said Ellie, he just decides to do it one day.
This is exactly my daughter. No advice just relief she’s not the only one 🫠
My daughter does exactly this. She’s never squatted to poo and I do wonder if she doesn’t know how to do it from a sitting position. I was going to try and contact the HV in case they have any suggestions.
Mine is the same 🥴 it is so frustrating! We’ve been told to try bubbles in the bathroom and all sorts. I think my little boy would be perfectly capable of doing it too he’s just decided he’s not and I can’t bear for him to be constipated 😫 no advice just know you’re not alone. I’m so hoping my little boy just wakes up one day and decides the toilet is a better idea. Xx
