Toilet training

Taking a week off next week to toilet train my twins. I'm ditching the nappies and was planning on just doing that at night straight away too (fully prepared for accidents) but I've read a few places that they should still have a nappy on at night until they're relative confident at going to the toilet through the day. What's your thoughts? Just want to do it right x

I personally wouldn't, night time is a whole different ball game when it comes to potty training. My girl was potty trained just before turning 2 and even still now has a pull up as most nights it's wet. Haven't attempted night time yet as she's a nightmare when being woke up and I'm not ready for that more than I'm not ready for accidents lol

I don’t know that one way is “right” and the other is “wrong,” but we kept the diaper on at night. My daughter would not poop on the potty for a while, so having her bedtime diaper was helpful for her to feel comfortable to poop. After she was very comfortable with peeing on the potty, the pooping came more naturally. Then we just waited until the nighttime diapers were consistently dry and then did away with those, too. I think the age of the child matters, too. Much easier for a 3 year old to “hold it” all night than one who just turned 2. Good luck!

Mine is dry day&night (started gradually from roughly 2yrs 8 months with no stress to complete in 3 days etc etc) and I still put a pull up on over her knickers as a back up for night time as I'm not prepared for any night accidents😂 Absolutely fine to try no nappies at all in the day and see how you go but ditching them at night as well is asking for trouble at the start. There's no right or wrong way really, just do what works for you. No need to make it hard on yourself

Night time dryness is hormonal it can’t be trained All that’s going to happen is you’re going to wash a lot of bedding if they’re not releasing the hormone that slows down urine production Even if they’re dry in the day if they’re still waking dry then nighttime dryness won’t happen I say this as someone who’s eldest had to be under the continence nurse for bed wetting - you can’t train it, lifting at night also doesn’t help and ultimately you just have to weather the storm!

I did it all at once and my son has had one accident in the night in like 7 months so maybe all depends on the kid! X

So my little boy for some reason did it all at once but he still wears one just in case 😂 I should probably ditch it given it’s dry every morning but I’m not sure if he’s too little? I would say keep it at first, probably depends on the child and better to see how they get on in the day xx

Thanks everyone xxx

My little boy never wore one over night even during the first stage but he was having dry nappies when he woke up that's when we knew he was ready as he was only just turned 2 x

Night time dryness is hormonal and can't really be taught. They say once they have been dry for 5nights they will probably be dry on a night. Our daughter was dry on a night before we started potty training
