@Jamie how do you deal with it? Has he ever choked in his sleep, especially at night? That freaks me out because I'd be asleep then 😓
So their salivary glands start working around now and they are learning to swallow it. So it seems scary, but it’s completely normal for them to be learning how to deal with their saliva. It’s a bit like them learning their gag reflex when they are weaning - they can look like they are choking but they are learning how to manage that themselves.
@Alesha thank you, that is reassuring to hear that it's normal and he'll be ok🙏🏻 I've been mentally preparing myself for a terrible night because he's waking himself up choking on saliva, so the anxious mama in me just decided to stay up and watch him sleep to make sure he doesn't choke silently 😓
I am such a light sleeper honestly I would wake up if he did even cough with it and he's been doing this for about 3 weeks and he's never choked in his sleep so don't worry. If anything I do notice when he wakes up in a morning he is less dribbley? I don't know if you've found that as well? So I think whilst they are asleep it calms down.
@Anna oh bless you hun! He will sort it himself. But my boy has been doing this for a while and he hasn’t choked or even done the loud swallowing over night or during his naps, It only seems to be when awake. I’m assuming because he’s exploring the world with his hands. Im also sure you would wake to him if he needed you. Try to get some rest, you need to be as well rested as possible to care for him tomorrow x
@Alesha it's the opposite with us - he only chokes when asleep 🤦🏻♀️ And today has been the first time it happened. I'll try to rest up instead of watching him like a hawk 🙈 thank you! X
@Jamie mine only did it once when awake but about 6 times now while sleeping, which is why the night is my worry 😓 x
My little one is the same and sometimes when he's crying a fair bit he chokes and it's horrible 😞
