Maternity Leave

I am saving all the holidays for when I come back. I am due on 16 February and planing to work till I need to live for hospital 😅. My work allows me after I finish my mat leave to come back to work couple days a week and use my holidays for other days of the week. Plan is to come back November but only do 3 days a week / 2 days holiday.

I work in retail so going to finish on Christmas Eve. Use 3 weeks holiday and then start Mat leave. I’m due 1st Feb and think will be exhausted after Christmas. If it wasn’t Christmas I would probably go off later but means I get to spend more time with my family rather than going back to work on 27th December

I’m due 18th of Feb and leaving at the end of January but using a weeks holiday at the beginning of Feb!☺️

@Libby I know I’m due 2nd Feb and think do I really want to go back for a week or 2 in January after having 2 weeks off 😂 but then think am I going to be bored for 7 weeks before baby comes but probably be exhausted 😂

It depends what you want to do in that time. I was off for 10 days in the lead up to my first baby being born - I was having an elective c section so I knew the date and I personally felt this was enough time. It’s kind of a waiting game where you’re not able to go anywhere toooo far in case you go into labour and you’re probably going to be feeling a little limited in things you can do and how much energy you have. If I had the option this time I might take a bit more off to spend with my son but sadly I don’t so will probably be off the week / 10 days before due date like last time

I’m already on maternity leave 😅😂

I’m due 28th February but C-section so will be coming the week before. I think I’m gonna start maternity from 20th January. We get married that weeks so I’d want to be off anyways and my jobs pretty stressful so planning on just finishing then. At the end of my maternity I’ll take all my holidays for the year so I’ll be off until January 26 as I can’t afford to take 3 month’s unpaid x

I took AL for the last week before my last. Baby came on due date and I had my full maternity entitlement when she was around. I’m doing the same this time as the last month can get pretty uncomfortable and I’d rather use the time when I’d otherwise have to pay for childcare. But everyone is different so you’ve just got to do what works for you.

With my first I went off at 32 weeks due to working in care with dementia and was a heavy work load, I had 3 weeks off then he came 5 weeks early! So I am now trying to figure when to go off with this one as there a chance of this one arriving early too! I’m due the 18th of February, so was thinking going off December using my holidays then starting maternity x
