Potty training

I’m starting to think about potty training now but she’s now at preschool two days a week, I’m just wondering if anyone has or is doing it while their child goes to preschool how are they doing it? Are you still putting nappies on for going (pull ups in our case) I’m just having a hard time navigating how to do it

So we started August bank holiday and kiddo goes to nursery full time. We just told nursery our approach and they are on board with it. We send in pull ups for naps. Not sure if your preschool would have the same policy or not, but worth having a chat with them to find out

@Fiona I’m not sure, they don’t do naps at our preschool, she goes in tomorrow so I’ll chat to them

We chatted to nursery about it beforehand and they were totally happy to support nappy free (we followed Oh Crap method). They wanted her to wear leggings rather than commando under dresses etc, both for privacy as well as minimising mess, but they were really helpful and supportive. She doesn’t nap at nursery so can’t speak to pull ups at naptime, but I’m sure they’d help!

@Tali how did you go about going places, like town or days out etc?

We’re 3 weeks in and definitely feeling fairly confident going out now. We pack spare leggings but rarely need them at this point! She’s gotten so good at telling us when she needs to go. We normally use public toilets, like cafes etc, when we’re in town so it’s been fine. Parks and countryside are a bit more challenging as she refuses to “tree wee” (go outside) and travel potties are a work in progress. So far the Hippychick disposable ones are the only ones she’ll agree to wee on lol, but we’re getting there.

We also did oh crap and have a travel potty. She seems to prefer holding it than using the travel potty but will use it. But as others have said we take spare trousers and are prepared to stop and let her go potty at pretty much any time when we're out.
