Does anyone else think Vinted is getting worse?

I never used to have any issues and now all of the sudden anything I buy is in horrible condition when it arrives. People just seem to hide it from pictures and then when you bring it up, they say to return it and you pay for postage... so then I think "is it really worth sending it back if I'm spending the money to post it back and not getting anything out of it?" I just think people have caught on that most won't bother returning it and they can make money off of things that need money to fix or should be in the bin 🤦‍♀️

I ordered a bundle that all of the baby clothes were advertised with tags on. It turned up and the clothes were dirty (they had food and baby sick on), no tags and bobbly with wholes in. I was like WHY? Why would you do that to someone 🤣

I haven't started buying things like clothes for my baby since my cousins and friend gave me alot of baby stuff for my little one , alot is second hand what I don't mind since they grow fast and some stains don't bother me , but if I was to buy some stuff that is claimed as new and it wasn't I would be very pissed and report the seller with screenshots claiming it's new and pics of package unopened and opened with side items not as listed

My Husband and I have been experiencing the same. My Husband ordered a small bundle which included a sleep bag, a fluffy babygrow and a coat. The condition was advertised ‘as new’. The coat was absolutely fine, no stains thankfully. However the sleep bag and the babygrow (which were supposed to be white) had quite a few yellow / brown stains on them. Even when washed the stains wouldn’t come out🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

Luckily, everything I’ve bought recently is as described but I don’t use vinted as much as before. Mainly because I think people are expecting quite high prices for what they are selling, particularly when you consider the buyers protection fee and postage on top of the cost for the item. I see to buy loads for my son for nursery but when someone is charging a fiver for a pair of supermarket joggies then it turns out around £9 after postage etc., I’m better off just paying a tiny bit extra and going buying them new. Shame really because I like the principle of pre-loved. Of course if people have lots of nice items and accept bundle discounts I will do that as financially it makes sense x

Recently I ordered a bouncer advertised as like new, used a handful of times and suitable from newborn, pics looked lovely - it arrived with the shoulder straps unattached and broken off (stitching had come away so couldn’t be reattached) and yellow stains all over the white material which wouldn’t wash out. When I approached the seller as this clearly couldn’t be used safely and was dirty, I was told I could send it back and get a refund. Clearly she knew it was damaged and stained as no apology or arguments. We’re obviously not going to use it but also don’t see the point in spending my time, effort and money sending it back over 25 quid. It’s a joke

Also another annoyance of mine 🤣🤣 as others have pointed is is describing stuff as “new without tags” then the pictures they have uploaded is of them wearing the item or in the description “only worn once” - so it’s not new without tags!! I report them because it’s a waste of my time. I use the filters so I can clearly see the type of items I want so it’s time consuming to get the page filled with items that aren’t as advertised. It’s almost like they do it to get their item attention which isn’t honest. I know that’s a bit extreme but honestly annoys me lol 🙈

Vinted has an option to pay an extra fee to be able as a customer to return it. For that extra fee, I rather buy/sell things on ebay. The buyer protection hasn't disappoint me and I have returned things that don't match the description for no extra cost. At least I would leave a review of the experience to that seller.

@Donna Woods did you take the issue up with vinted? Luckily I’ve never had to return anything but I thought the buyers protection fee was to prevent you from being financially disadvantaged if something was to go wrong? My partner ordered a pair of stone island shorts and when they arrived they were clearly fake. He got his money back and didn’t need to return the item. I don’t know if that’s standard though? If returning an item you shouldn’t be out for postage costs. Defeats the whole purpose of paying for buyers protection. Sorry that happened to you x

Yes… I’m so dubious about buying things on there now. I’ve noticed aswell they take FOREVER to send. I know we’re moms and we’re busy but sometimes it takes the piss. I mostly just sell on there now. I would never sell dirty stained clothes on there, it’s so gross

@Chelsea I did initially and was told to speak with the buyer first. She wasn’t very helpful and just said to return it and she would refund it. In all honesty, I was so disappointed that I just gave up and accepted the loss. Having to repack it all and organise sending it back just didn’t seem worth the refund. And I worried that she would make re-list it and some poor soul would use it with their newborn and leave them unsafe. I left a very honest review, to which she commented saying that she would refund if I sent it back x

It’s the extra fees that get me?! By the time the buyer protection fee and delivery charge is added, what was a bargain of £3 is now suddenly £8.50 and totally not worth it?! I feel like the customer service from Vinted is crap aswell, definitely not worth the extra few ££ they force onto everything. We’ve bought so much of Facebook marketplace, atleast you can then see the item before you hand the ££ over, and if you turn up it’s crap you can politely and awkwardly scoot away😂

Mine is how much money people want for second hand/used things. I was look in for stocking fillers for my daughter and people were wanting like £3 for USED sticker books 🤣

@Casey baby sick on it!? Cheeky buggers that's disgusting 🫣

@R 🪬 yeah it was gross! I messaged and she said “what do you expect of a mum with a BABY”. She hadn’t washed any of it just plucked it out of the washing basket but after she said it was because she didn’t get time as a mum, she then tried to blame it on the delivery company possibly opening up the parcel, being sick on it and then taping it up. I just raised a concern with Vinted and blocked her in the end. I tried to salvage what I could but ultimately it was all in such a bad condition I had to throw most away!

I sell on Vinted but I clearly state/photograph if there’s anything on/wrong with what I’m selling. And I never really put any of my clothing higher than the rating good because my good might be different to someone else’s and especially as it’s been used. The only things that go higher are the items I have never worn/still have tags. There are scammers on there but If I’m buying off there I always look to see their reviews before buying.

I’ve only ever had one poor experience, and it was with a giant bundle of clothing. All listed as very good not many photos. She’d sent a load of vests and of 25 of them only 9 had no visible marks or stains. Because was part of a giant bundle I decided it wasn’t worth the hassle of sending back (but did raise to seller as felt she’d misled me) and told her I would leave a fair and honest review. This was weeks ago and last night she’s just replied to my review saying I’m lying 😂

I literally had this yesterday, something sold as 'very good condition' came with nail varnish on it, seams ripped, rips on the arms, thread coming loose. Absolute state, they told me to return it but the drop off for it isn't convenient for me so I've had to keep it! 😡 And when I left them negative feedback, they replied and said no idea how that happened, so sorry. What do you mean no idea how that happened? What a joke

I've found that there's hardly anything on there that's worth a decent price too! They're all really expensive and you may as well buy new when the condition isn't great and youre nearly spending the same amount. I've actually started to wonder into Charity shops when I pass and there's so much better stuff that vinted! I got a pair of pink clarkes shoes that looked brand new for £3, they were still being advertised as £30 online 🙈

Oh I had my first issue last week so I feel you. I bought an alleged BNWT jumper and it arrived and smelled of smoke plus no tag although didn’t particularly look worn. I message to state I only bought BNWT so wouldn’t have purchased and he replied to say it must have come off whilst packing. So I then said how it smells of smoke then he said it can’t as he washed it before sending to save me a job. So which is it?! There can’t have been a label on when he packed it if he had washed it. And he was rude too, ughhh

I ordered something recently and it wasn't sent out. No communication at all. My friend has had similar issues too

I once brought maternity trousers and ended up with a dress instead... Never able to sell anything on there myself

@Casey that's so gross! Yuck..irreverent her saying it's because she's a mum, poor excuse, wash the damn sick off the clothes before selling it! Common sense, which a lot of people lack!

Yes! I got some bundle with tracksuits and vests included and the vests were all stained and some of the tracksuits were stained and had some bobbling. It said it was really good condition

Honestly people just want to make money out of crap and it makes me sick 🤦‍♀️ Like why would you do that to someone? Where's the common decency? And I HATE that once you've returned something you can't leave a review??? So you can't warn others of this horrible seller unless you keep the item and lose money

I bought a bundle of tracksuit bottoms for my LO.. they were for nursery so I didn't mind that they were lightly used . But.. they arrived stinking of wee! I was fuming!! The seller denied all knowledge until I reported it and suddenly it was 'oh the cat must of got to the parcel before I sealed it'.. then offered to refund me if I paid to send them back!!
