Preclampsia

Are you able to have preeclampsia without your bloods being off? I’ve had high blood pressure since week 22 almost 30 weeks now. I’m in ADU every other day for review. I often have protein in urine but when they send it if they say it’s not enough to be really worried and all my bloods are in range. I’m on 300mg of Labetamol 4 times a day and 3 x 20mg of nifphedofine. With this my bp averages about 145-165 over between 85-109 Todays one was 159/109 and I was allowed home to rest. Currently signed off work as it was going to 186/154 when I was at work. I’m speaking to my consultant on Thursday about my plan as at one point they wanted me to have her between 32-34 weeks as I’ve also got uncontrolled Gestinal diabetes, overactive thyroid and liver disease prior to pregnancy. My baby girl was measuring 27th Percentile at 28 weeks got another scan next week. I felt fine this morning however have been in bed all afternoon with nausea and headaches which I’ve still Got. But I know my bloods and urine today was ok hence I’ve not called triage. Just wondering if you can get diagnosed with preeclampsia without abnormal bloods? I had it at 37 weeks with my first but they just had him out and didn’t even run extra tests as I was already 37 weeks. They keep telling me Here it’s not preeclampsia cos my bloods are all ok but I’ve seen some people who have been told they have it with normal bloods so just curious? Thank you 😊

Don’t know if this is helpful but when I had severe pre eclampsia with my first (born at 26 weeks) they kept telling me my bloods were deranged. So they were able to get my bp settled but because my organs had gone into failure due to the deranged bloods they had to deliver

@Alice yeah see mine are all normal. I’ve got the high BP, protein in urine I’ve got headaches and eye changes confirmed by optician, abdo pain and nausea but normal bloods so they aren’t thinking it’s that. Just curious if anyone’s been diagnosed just on those things. So sorry to hear what happened to you ❤️. I’m really glad your ok though. It’s scary stuff xx

@Hannah I would keep pushing them tbh because all of the doctors and midwives I met almost berated me because I didn’t come in when I had headaches or visual disturbances but I actually didn’t experience that at all lol

I had severe pre eclampsia and delivered my lg via cat 1 section at 34weeks under GA. I did have it show in the bloods and had high BP was brought into ADU every other day. I had been in countless times with RFM and they caught it too late basically. My lg was born on the 0.01% centile. I had been flagging high BP and swelling to them for ages before they actually started to closely monitor me. But because I never had protein in my urine, they always dismissed my concerns of pre eclampsia. They tested my blood way later than they shouldve bc I never had protein in my urine. This is why I dislike medical professionals so much because it feels like a constant battle with them, but you know your own body and If you've had it before you'll know what to look out for. Just keep pushing them and keep asking them to test your blood, could easily change in your bloods the next time you go in. Pre eclampsia quickly changes as you'll know from your first pregnancy.

I currently have mild preeclampsia. My bp has been high and I have protein in my urine, that’s about it. My blood work is fine and I don’t have other symptoms so they haven’t put me on any medications. However, I am delivering at 37 weeks just to be safe. I would definitely talk to your doctor because it’s better to be safe and prepared.

I would deffo go back for second and third opinions. This sounds like pre eclampsia to me. I was misdiagnosed and ignored by midwives about my high bp and swelling (only symptoms i had at the time) until i went to hospital for reduced movements and second opinion for them to tell me i have protein in my urine and need to get baby out. Yes i had my bloods so it may have been visible on there too, but point is i was ill for a while, was experiencing symptoms and they were telling me all was fine when it clearly wasnt because it all ended in an emergency c section. So not to scare u but safe to say my trust in some of these medical professionals isnt 100% 😔best advice is know yourself and if u feel something is wrong just keep pushing for checks and answers until u are reassured.

Yep! I'm currently in hospital now. No issues with my blood but my BP is high and protein is at a 3+ so I've been diagnosed with mild pre-eclampsia.
