Hi! I’d double check with your HR. My partner and I work at the same place and the paternity leave policy re notifying them is that he had to inform them no later than 15 weeks before the expected birth so the same as my mat leave policy xoxo
GOV.UK state 15 weeks:- "You claim Paternity Leave and Pay through your employer. You must give your employer at least 15 weeks’ notice". https://www.gov.uk/paternity-pay-leave
That would mean for both maternity and paternity. You need to inform the employer prior to 15 weeks before the due date
@Fina only if you're not bothered about having the time off the moment the baby arrives. My dad did that as at the time there was no paternity leave and I was born overdue the day he went back to work 🤷♀️ Also it depends on the employer, my husband is getting full pay for those 2 weeks.
@Fina I would say this is dependent on the company/job! ☺️ our work policy where my partner will get paternity leave from is 4 weeks specifically at full pay, so it’s not strictly true about using AL instead
I think the poster above said 2 weeks?? Aahh I see cos my partner took 4 weeks paternity and he got paid very little compared to how much he would have been paid if he applied for holiday instead. So I thought maybe it might be the case for most companies
If your partner books a 2 week holiday he will get paid more than a 2 week paternity pay...
