NIPT out of pocket?

how did you guys get your insurance to cover you NIPT test? I want to get it but I've read it can be so expensive out of pocket and my insurance won't cover mine😭

My insurance has always covered it. It could be due to age in my case, but not sure. I just assumed it was always covered.

Mine is about 300$ after my insurance covers their portion and it’s worth every penny to me so i am opting in!

I will also say, you have to sign a consent form saying you agree to the payment before you get it done and they should be able to ball park it for you before they give you the testing kit to take to the lab

Insurance typically covers it if you're over 35 and therefore considered "advanced maternal age" which is automatically categorized as high risk. Otherwise, I've heard if you wait for the bill then call and say you can't pay it they'll give you a much better rate and/or payment plan. That's been a few years though.
