Thailand

Hey We booked a Thailand trip a while ago and now I’ll be just over 20 weeks pregnant when we go in November. My midwife said it’s fine but when I went for my vaccines last week the nurse said she wouldn’t risk it with zika going around. So now we’re stuck with very expensive tickets and not much option to go elsewhere as the flight provider refused to refund or change it. We are stuck. France is now in the danger zone too and I was there last week. 🫤

Hey! I am currently on my two week trip to Sri lanka. I was 18 weeks when i got here and im 19 weeks now. Honestly i was so terrified of all of it but it’s been amazing. What danger zone do you mean exactly?

Depends what you feel is best to do Midwife says it should be ok, what dangers? Just see what you feel is best to do xx

Hey, I went to Malaysia at 16 weeks for 2 weeks. I was so apprehensive prior, and a bit reluctant to eat certain foods however we had the best 2 week holiday.

I wouldn't due to the current zika risk

Oh let me add that we originally planned to go to bali at 13 weeks and we were too anxious to go with that. So we cancelled. Do what works best for you. Even though the airlines said it was non refundable we got a note from my OB saying im not fit to travel and managed to convince them to give us credit back

@Eman Thailand is in the high risk region according to the travel health pro map for Zika. Including where your are. Are you wearing nets and anti mosquito repellents etc?

@Sophie Zika

Yes, we sleep with mosquito nets and use repellent

@Maral ok

@Eman are you doing a test when you are back to be in the clear?

@Eman aw have a wonderful time. X

@Maral honestly I didnt even know Sri Lanka had been upgraded to an at risk region. Up until a few weeks ago it was zika free 🥲 so yeah I’ll get checked when I’m back

@Eman yeah it’s changed rapidly. Just be careful. the number of people being reported in comparison to the population level it’s actually quite low but the only high risk is pregnancy. Don’t want to worry you but it’s better to be aware so you can take extra measures. The test can only be done privately btw so worth booking that while you’re out there. Have a wonderful time
