Not long tbh I got put on metformin my last appointment when they looked at my numbers from my 2 week finger prick instead of doing the 3hr glucose drink

I told my doctor I wanted to be put on insulin immediately. She agreed and I started within a few days

When I met with consultant I had a few high fasting readings. 5.4 rather than under the 5.3 (plus 2 high readings after food but that was a explained with what I had eaten and was at the start when I didn’t know how much I can tolerate - haven’t had any since so far) and he said because of 3 readings at 5.4 they would recommend metformin for me to try and get fasting under 5.3. I’ve agreed with them to try a little longer first with a bedtime snack and walk after dinner to see if that can help. I was shocked they advised medication after 3 just over readings. See what they say. I’m being super strict with my diet too and it’s so frustrating. Roll on postpartum when we can have some chocolate again!!

When you say strict with your diet what advice are you following as most NHS advice is useless? Check out this website if you haven't already and it will help much more. https://www.gestationaldiabetes.co.uk/ There's a Facebook group too. Even then, some ladies just need medication no matter what they do, it isn't your fault if that is the case.

I had 3 high readings ( second pregnancy) I asked to be put on metformin it didn't do anything so I requested insulin after 3 weeks

@Tanya gduk saved me! I followed there diet and stayed diet controlled so I second checking out that website

What meals have you been eating?

Omelettes, chicken and veg, sometimes gluten free crisp bread cheese and ham for lunch, broccoli soup, nothing bad at all really

They gave me two weeks? The fasting wasn't going down so insulin.

Can I ask how your readings for the bottom day are higher than before food?? Is that right?

I was given 2 weeks to see if it could be controlled by diet and exercise, got told during my appointment yesterday that it seems to be going well and no need for meds
