Maternity allowance advice

Good morning. We have nearly 4 year old daughter and I have just found out I am pregnant with second baby. I am not working and have not been working since my first daughter was born but claiming child benefits for her is there any chance I could be eligible for maternity allowance for the second baby? Thanks in advance for any answer. Posting as incognito because I might have people who I know here and I do not want them to know I am pregnant just yet.😉

Nope I don’t think so. Im pretty sure you have to have been working (or self employed) during some period in the 66 weeks prior. x

No you won’t be. You need to have worked at least 13 weeks in the 66 weeks before your child’s due date.

Thank you for answers. Xxx

If you have been doing voluntary NIC then you may be eligible.
