Women’s hospital

Hi all, for those who are under the womens, how long was it until someone got in touch with you once you registered your pregnancy online? Thanks!

Ages! I registered then didn’t get an appointment through to see the midwife until I would’ve been 11 and a half weeks. The first appointment should’ve been between 8-10weeks, considering the first scan is between 12-14, I felt my first appointment was pretty late. I rang up and managed to get a new appointment for the week before but had to drive to a different area for it. Also I was never sent a letter for the appointment, I only found out because I kept checking the mypregnancy account. So far been really unimpressed by the lack of communication and support.

Okay thanks. It’s such a pain isn’t it. Yeah I’m not overly confident but in them tbh from care I’ve had previously, I’m thinking I might switch to Whiston!

Mine was 11 weeks with my midwife as well it depends on your local midwife when they do it as your scan is usually around 13 weeks I have found

How far away from Whiston are you? I’ve been debating the same but not quite in that area so I don’t know how I would go about it - although it would probably take the same amount of time for me to get there as it would to go to the women’s as Whiston is right off the motorway. I’ve had a letter for my 20 week scan with 4 days notice. My 13 week scan I had a text message with 5 days notice. I’ve had an issue with a bleed I had, which took me going for a private scan to actually figure out what was happening. Was told I should be monitored, haven’t been. Was told I would have blood tests at 18 weeks, that’s not happened either. Can’t get in touch with anyone, still haven’t met my assigned midwife and I’m 20 weeks along. Super unimpressed with the women’s. X

The asignedd midwife doesn’t come from women’s it comes from your local area, if you haven’t had your midwife I would ring your doctors as they are assigned by a few and attached to your doctors. I got my 20 week scan with week noticed but my friend had 3 week notice for hers so am not sure how they do it. Consultant wise I had my app for October since July so never makes sense. Am closer to womens than whiston heard great things about whiston but I had a very complex first birth and was under a specific surgeon for birth which is also why I would be going back the womens.

I’m about half an hour down the motorway to Whiston same I would be to women’s! I had to chase my midwife who then got in touch and started the ball rolling with booking appointment etc. I don’t know how I would transfer the care also I’m going to look into it and see what I can find but pretty confident I that I want to change to Whiston. I think you have quite a while to change care anyway so don’t panic x

You can pick whatever hospital you want until literally last minute, I think you can change via your midwife and online if you have my pregnancy notes

It was a rather long time. I found out at 5 weeks so unfortunately, I had to wait another 4 weeks or so for an appointment with my midwife. I saw her at 9+5 weeks. My first scan appointment was then at 13+3 weeks so the wait between my 2 appointments is roughly 4 weeks. I’m currently 17+3 weeks, saw my midwife at 15+4 weeks and I’m now waiting for my 20 week scan, again another 4-5 week wait.
