Entertaining babies

Hey 🙂 What are you doing to keep your babies entertained during the day? Also, how many weeks was your baby when you started tummy time?

I have done tummy time on my chest since she was born and then started on the floor at about 5 weeks although she doesn’t love it still so mainly still on my chest - she is ridiculously strong already 😅 I have a baby gym for her so we spend some time on there every day and other times I just walk around talking to her and showing her lights and windows (she’s 7 weeks tomorrow so fascinated by light) and other times I just talk to her. I also have some rattles so I shake those at her and try to get her to turn her head following the sounds. Sometimes I just put her down in her pram with a caterpillar thing on the bar and entertains herself hitting the rattle parts etc ☺️ I talk to her while she’s doing it. I refuse to put the tv on so we usually have music on, I hate nursery rhymes etc but have forced myself to put baby music on for her too and I sing those to her 😂

We go on her playgym, use black and white cards and read books / sing. She’s got a big brother so she’s also a very good bridge/ hill for cars 😂 Started tummy time on my chest immediately and with a pillow when she was a few days old ☺️

Sometimes I like to sob hysterically. That seems to give him a thrill.

@Sharon ha I know this feeling! I was actually crying and tears were dropping on her head the other day, I think she got pissed off so she moved out of the way 😅

@Sharon Felt bad liking this but just wanted to say I can empathise!

We started tummy time from day 1 on his gym mat on the floor. Started with once a day 2-5mins for the first few days and then twice a day upto 2 weeks. Now it's at least twice a day for however long he wants. He's 6 weeks and can self support his head and loves tummy time. We also have attended baby classes since 2 weeks and at home we sing, read books, practice face pulling, go for walks, practice grabbing and holding things and anything that has him smiling and laughing

You don’t, they’re basically still a newborn

I've been doing tummy time on me with her since day 2 or 3. Now she's nearly 4 weeks, I'm starting to introduce the tummy time pillow and some black and white toys during it so she's got something to focus on. I've also got the play gym set up that's white and grey objects so she can start to try and reach though I'm not expecting that for a long time. I've got a bag of black and white sensory toys that I'm using for her to track so she can focus and learn how to follow objects.

Tummy time since we got home from hospital, mainly on the chest so far but may look at moving to the floor with the tummy time cushion as his neck is getting super strong now. We listen to lots of music and sing to anything from nursery rhymes to Blink 182. We use black and white vision cards, which now at 4 weeks he’s started to follow a little more. We also have some black and white books that we show him the pictures of and read from, and we’ve also been reading books in general since week 1. We often just sit him in our laps and have eye contact and just chat to him (usually bigging him up telling him how cute and clever he is and how much we love him😂 ). Lots of contact naps or naps in the baby sling. We also have a baby gym play mat thing but tbf every time he’s been on it so far he’s not really been interested and just falls asleep but he is still only very young. We also just go out for lots of walks and fresh air.
