Midwife

Just over 14 weeks and still waiting on my 16 week Midwives’s appointment- getting a bit annoyed as have to arrange things with work etc and that’s not giving me enough notice, phone the hospital multiple times and they’ve told my named midwife.. getting tempted to ask for a change of midwife - has anyone else done this? Feel rude doing it

I get booked in for the next appointment at the appointment I attend - can they not do this and give you plenty notice? I would definitely raise this and make a fair request of knowing within a certain timescale for work etc. You can certainly request changing midwife, but I’d be inclined to check whether it’s her personally or a service thing because if it’s the latter, changing individual might not solve the problem! Hope you get this sorted 💕

I don’t speak to a midwife to book appointments it’s just a receptionist xx

My midwife books my next appointment at the end of every one we have. It also appears on my badger app.

Your appointment might not be bang on 16 weeks depending on which days your local maternity service have clinics & availability. Your employer is legally required to give you time off to attend, but if the day & time really don’t suit you can always request to change it. Where I am in Glasgow appointments are booked in & re-arranged through the admin/central booking service who send out letters and take calls, so it’s not necessarily the fault of your named Midwife if it hasn’t been scheduled yet. Best of luck getting it sorted.
