Medi-cal insurance vs cobra

So I’ve been on disability and now my work insurance has exhausted itself. HR said I have to find insurance elsewhere or apply for cobra (which is very expensive for me and my son about $1000 a month) last year I had quit my job to get another job and as soon as I found out I was pregnant I had applied for Medi-Cal, and got approved. I got a job 2 months later and then 30 days after I started that I emailed Medi-Cal saying I no longer needed the services because I got employment with benefits again. I never got a response from them, and I’ve never used the medical card but it’s still active now that I don’t have insurance again will I be able to use that, and add my son to? I’m scared to use it because it’s government aid and I don’t wanna owe money to the government. I’m not sure what to do. Any advice.

You can use it. Just call your case worker and explain the situation.

Even if I’m still getting disability checks?

Disability and medi-cal usually go hand in hand

Disability is typically right below the medi-cal income threshold so you should be okay. Call your medi-cal county worker and just ask what’s the income limit :)

Be careful I am currently paying back taxes for having medical when I had a job that made more than the income limits. Because I exhausted my hours on leave as well. Just make sure to document everything.

@Jackie ooh no where you using it the entire time? Mmm what is the income limit. I’m scared to use it because I don’t wanna pay back. But also need insurance at least for 4 months
