Freaking out

To people that got iron transfusions before, where is it usually done? My doctor referred me to a hematologist to get one because I have anemia, but when I called, it was a cancer specialist center?? My doctor didn’t mention anything to me about cancer, just that I need to get my iron up. Is it normal for the hematologist to be at cancer center? Or does my doctor think I have cancer?

A lot of cancers cause blood deficiency issues, so I would not be surprised at all that a hematologist is at a cancer center! Your doctor would have told you 100% if they thought you had cancer ☺️ -From an RN ❤️

I’m going to a hematologist at a cancer center and I’ve had it done with both of my girls. The other patients may think you have cancer because when I went with my girls the other patients kept giving me pamphlets and prayers. They just assume that’s what you’re there for because it’s a cancer center. Seeing a hematologist at a cancer center is totally normal

Yes I went to cancer hospital as well for Iron infusion and I was very much confused as well at first

You don't have cancer it's just where they do those infusions because often people with cancer become dangerously anemic
