Please help: going back to Naija for first time in years

Hey ladies So I'm going back to Nigeria for the first time in ten years soon, I just need some help with a few things since I know Naija has changed a lot since I was last there, and it will also be my first time going back with my toddler. Could I get some advice on: • Going about with a toddler. We'll be staying in Ikeja but will be travelling to different parts of Lagos and eventually to our home state. Do people use buggies back home? 🤣 I know it sounds funny but I don't want to be looking odd going up and down. Maybe I didn't used to pay attention as I was child-free in those days, but I can only remember seeing mothers carrying their child on their back • What's the best way to do transactions? I don't have a Naira account yet (want to open one when I get there). Can I use an app like LemFi to transfer money? What if someone wants to transfer money to me in Naira? • What's the best way to stay connected online? I just remember data being relatively expensive last time I was there, not sure how things are now • Has anyone here used Uber back home before? Please what was your experience? • Should I even bother taking a car seat for my toddler? Thanks in advance for any help 🙏🏾

Hi, I haven’t been in Nigeria for like 2 years now so I can’t answer all your questions but I will try to answer as much as possible. Firstly, I don’t think you will need a buggie or even carseat, the first time I saw one was when I moved to the UK Secondly, you can use Lemfi to make transactions in Naira too. Just open a naira account on the app and you will get your account details which can be used to send naira to you. I use it and it works great and you don’t need to open another account in Nigeria unless you absolutely want to. Thirdly, you can always buy data, not sure of the prices though as it depends on the network Lastly, Uber is still in use but very expensive now. I hope I was able to help a bit. Have a lovely trip and have fun 😊

When I went with my toddler years ago I used a buggy just to get her from the airport to the car park in the airport. I didn’t actually use it while in Nigeria or use a car seat. You can download Uber and lift to use. I asked someone to have a SIM card ready for me with data loaded on it for when I arrived

Thank you so much @Vee and @Funke So if you don't use a buggy how do you get from place to place if you want to stroll?? Abi you just carry them in your hands?

Yes o sis. You carry them or back them

But you should still take cos you will need it at the airport in the UK

@Vee ha, backing a toddler It is well 🙏🏾

They can walk too.

Not sure if it’s help but I was in Nigeria in June with my toddler I only time I used my buggie was from the airport to the car , LemFi is really good to exchange money , but bring a bit of cash with u to exchange before getting the bank sorted

What I did was I brought an internet bundle for a month unlimited just because of my son so he can watch is shows and play games
