Newborn belly button

In need of some advice! My baby’s belly button is sticking out loads and when I touch it you can hear a squishy sound, it’s not bothering him and I have had a quick search on Google about it. But just looking for advice if anyone’s baby has had the same and I’ll be asking my health visitor too!

Looks like my daughters. Might be umbilical hernia. Get it checked by the doctor xxx

My 8 week baby has exactly the same. Doctor said if you push it down and is soft and baby isn’t showing signs of pain it’s OK and will probably go away by the time they’re 2 years old.

My daughter’s is the same. The GP examined and confirmed she has a small umbilical hernia but no further action is needed atm as it’s likely to go away with time. You can speak to health visitor or GP for a diagnosis - my understanding is if it measures under a certain measurement it won’t require any action or treatment. It feels so weird doesn’t it!

@Jess 🌹 it does feel werid, Google is saying umbilical hernia, we have a doctors appointment soon so will ask them too. Thank you for your reply x

Looks like a hernia nothing to worry about but maybe see a gp at the very least it’ll put your mind at ease x
