Diaper cleaning

Really embarrassed to ask this. I feel like I should know. At the hospital they told us not to clean "in" her vagina (duh) but then I started to debate what the nurse actually meant. I'm supposed to clean in between her labia right?? Just not IN her vagina.

Yes! The poo really gets up in there sometimes. Don’t be embarrassed, it’s better that you ask if you don’t know these things. Congratulations also :)

Yes, I generally only go in between when she's pooped and it's everywhere

This is why groups like this are so helpful 🥰 Never be embarrassed 🥰🥰 xx

Don’t feel embarrassed this is a really good question to ask! I thought about this too for a second when they told me at the hospital too lol but yes you clean between her labia cause the poop really gets everywhere and it’s always good to lightly spread aquaphor outside her vagina and butt crack after cleaning to prevent diaper rash and it is easier to get the poop cleaned up since the aquaphor causes the poop not to stick to baby

@Brittany this was so helpful! I've never heard of aquaphor before & the hospital and midwives told me to put anything on, to wait until there's actually a rash - crazy I know! I've just been dabbing some sudocrem on when she's a little red, so I'm definitely going to look at getting some of the aquaphor 😅

@Gemma I use Sudocrem on my daughter after every nappy change. Really helps keep nappy rash away. Done it with both the girls xx

@Gemma Sudocrem is basically similar to aquaphor so either one is fine. Lol someone also told me all babies get diaper rash, you can’t escape it yet my baby is 8 months now and hasn’t had diaper rash yet so here’s to hoping it doesn’t happen😆
