Centrelink question

Hi mums, I probably should call Centrelink to check but hoping to avoid waiting for hours on the phone , maybe someone knows the answer. Recognised activities to get childcare subsidy hours. Online info slightly confusing. I’m on unpaid maternity leave , been more than a year now. On the website it says they will recognise it as activity for up to 6 months. But then again at the bottom of the page say they will recognise it as activity indefinitely if I go back to the same job ? So as long as I go back to same job I don’t need to worry ? Thanks

Hey!… not sure if I can fully help at all.. but can let you know what I experienced today 😃 I got a letter 2 days ago saying my CCS had changed, when I had only just gotten a letter about 1-2wks ago. This most recent letter I received, had the percentage of subsidised hours, but the quantity of hours for each of my 2 children had dropped from 100hrs each with 5% withholding, to 0hrs each with 0% withholdings. After reading this I went into the local Centrelink to ask as I believe this means we would have to pay full amount for daycare. The lady I saw agreed with what I saw and said this is correct but doesn’t know why it’s changed and I need to ring the families line to ask. I did that and the woman re run our thing and it come back at 72hrs for each child. I was working before I had my 5mth old 48hr fortnight which I have never changed since being on maternity leave. This was the only thing I could think of why our CCS had changed. But she said as long as I’m still employed by my

Employer, and that I’m going back to work, I don’t have to change it and it can stay at 48hrs activity for myself. Sorry about the long story, but hope it helped a little ☺️

Thanks for your message. So it seems like I just put my previous hours, which was full time even though I know I won’t go back full time ? I probably should contact Centrelink because every case is so different , right. I’ll call the family like as you mentioned. Thanks for sharing

Yeah it’s a pain.. but I would just ring to confirm 🙂

Yes, you can claim an entire year of unpaid mat leave as full time if you were full time. It's not really relevant that you're planning to go back part time.
