Starting potty training

My LO is 2 and I’m thinking about starting potty training, but I just wondered how others have handled being out and about or going to classes etc in the early stages? Is it just a case of trying to make sure they’ve gone to the toilet before going in? She can’t yet tell me when she’s going to wee, and will only tell me once she’s done a poo. Thank you!

Were gonna start at the end of the month after a wedding. My girl has already been really interested and has peed a few times and can take off her shorts and pull up most of the time on her own. I'm probably gonna do the 3 day method. I have a foldable potty seat for public.

We started a few weeks ago. We take a travel potty with us everywhere. From our experience it's pretty much impossible to get them to wee at convenient times - they'll go when they're ready and initially you need to be prepared for that.

We're about 2 weeks in and he holds it in and pees when you put him on a potty, doesn't ask for it. At home we use a potty, but on the go have gotten him used to being held on the toilet. Put him on any chance we get. The few times we've put a nappy on for a trip, it has stayed dry. Also have a liner for the car seat.

We've just started today got her a travel potty! I think if they can tell you both that's a good sign so maybe wait a few more weeks xx

I potty trained my little girl at 20 months. We stayed home for a solid 3/4 days. She’s now fully potty trained and very rarely had accidents - she typically had them at nursery if she does. I bought a travel potty which was super helpful as you could potty them wherever. I would get yourself sorted at home first then venture out after! We did little trips to my parents house before going out out. I would say at the start it’s about you reminding her to have a wee.. but now she’s tells me! X

Use puppy pads for the car as we had lots of accidents in the car! X

we started about 6 weeks ago and i took time off work to have a solid week at home. she was stubborn and refused to sit on the potty so the first 5 days were hell and i nearly gave up. then day 6 she woke up and decided she’d do it and we’ve not looked back since. we are having around 1 accident a day but so far none when we are out, she’ll generally hold it and every hour at least i sit her on the potty in the car and she’ll go. we have a liner for the car seat.

@Fiona @Natalie so this may be a strange question but my friend does this and since you both mentioned travel potties, maybe you can tell me if this is the norm.. if you're walking up the high road and your little needs to go, do you just whip the potty out on the pavement etc? No judgment, I just couldn't imagine letting my LO pee so openly in public.. it feels so vulnerable.. we've started training at home but eventually we'll need to venture out and I need to be prepared lol

Travel potty, and be prepared to drop everything and get them on the potty asap, there might only be a 2 second warning. But it gets easier and easier
