Going to the toilet at nursery

My 3 year old son has just started school nursery full time. He’s been out of nappies for a few months now but since starting nursery has been having poo and wee accidents every day. Does anyone have any advice for getting him to go to the toilet at nursery? Thanks in advance!!

Mine holds it and goes at home 🤦🏼‍♀️ I was fully expecting her to have constant accidents though Sooo normal- activities there are far more attractive than going to the toilet/ nervous to use new toilets etc/ nervous to tell someone about it Just all the change as well

Really normal, might be worth asking staff to take him at timed intervals just until he gets more comfortable and confident! He’s probably too busy having fun!

@Laura hi, I know you work in childcare! I asked the staff to take my child through the day to try but they have only ever just asked her and she's said no I don't need one etc Can they say well you are going to try or do they have to take the child's 'no'

@Peer95 I mean we do it child by child we have some we know will say no and then 5 mins later will have an accident so we say come on this friend is coming or we can put that toy away safely so you can is it after you’ve had a wee! It’s a case of knowing the kids, there some that say no and we know they don’t need to go and some you see doing wee dance so you know it’s a matter of moments before the wee comes!

@Laura okay that's helpful thank you!

My son did this when he switched to a new nursery, he was holding in his wee which would occasionally resort in an accident. Do they have a potty at the nursery and could he use that in the toilets if he’s comfortable with that? They did that with my son and he finally weed there, then after that his confidence built very quickly and now he uses the toilet normally there like at home. It’s really hard but it will get better!
