Ever happen to you?

My doctor just told me she’s pregnant and due 2 weeks before me so she can’t deliver my baby (obviously). I’m very happy for her I absolutely adore my doctor and will sing her praises for the rest of my life she delivered my first baby and made it the best experience ever. I absolutely adore her. But fuckkkkk I’m stressed as hell because now I’m 14 weeks pregnant and having to find a new doctor to create a connection of trust with.

My first pregnancy my OB told me she was going to be on vacation when I delivered. I don’t even remember meeting the OB that delivered my first 😅

We don’t have this system in England. The dr on shift at the time, will deliver my baby! So won’t have a clue who that is, until the day!

I love my ob but I went into labor early when he wasn't available. The dr who delivered my baby was absolutely amazing. She was another dr at the same practice. Does your ob work at an office with other providers? You could set up a few appts to meet the other Dr's so you will be familiar with them, too.

@Camerin same, except mine was running in a marathon or something? The doctor on call walked in right about 3 minutes before my son arrived lol

The chances that the OB you do all your prenatal stuff with and the actual doctor who deliver you being the same person is actually a small chance! I wouldn’t worry about it because at the end of the day it’s a crap shoot. You could start with your regular OB and you labor for over 24 hours and your OB now is off and goes home to sleep and poof you deliver with the new OB who is in for the day that you’ve never met before. There’s not too much you can do to prepare for who will deliver your baby, as long as you are getting really good prenatal care then i would just put your trust in your OB team that is there that day! They do this day in and day out and we have to be confident in whoever is there when baby decides to come

I agree with Heather, if your Dr is at a practice with other Dr's I'd see if you can setup an appt with one of them possibly? My OB delivered my son, almost 12 years ago now and is still my OB for this baby. I was induced at 39 weeks and had him at 10:38pm and I love him like you do your Dr, he checked in on me numerous times at the hospital & when my sons cord was wrapped twice with his HR dropping saved his life. I can understand the fear of changing Dr's but it'll all work out Momma.
