Were you offered a GD test?

Hello, Have seen some posts about gestational diabetes here. I asked the hospital about it yesterday and they said they only test high risk patients. Wondering who was offered one as standard?

Depends on your ethnicity and or if you have medical reasons for the test I’m Nigerian and so is my husband so automatically we got offered the test.

i can’t talk for all reasons but i know they offer it you if there’s family history of it or if your BMI is over a certain number xx

My Mum had GD but I’ve not been offered the test yet (22+4). My friend however had her GD test booked in from 18 weeks so unsure if it’s specific to you x

I’m having twins and they offer it then x

I was going to go for one anyway due to strong family history. It got pushed forward to 15 weeks though as I was having awful symptoms and my mum tested my morning sugars and they were high so they put me in the next available testing slot

Yes. I’ve been booked in as I have family history, you also get booked in if you are over 35

I have mine next week cause my dads a diabetic. As far as I am aware you won't be offered one unless there's a reason to test such as family history, BMI and age I believe.

Most people I speak to seem to have had one, but so far I'm not scheduled for one as I didn't fit the criteria. I guess that could change!

It's all based on risk factors and any indicators you might have. @Allison I had my first baby at 35 and wasn't tested, pregnant again and won't be tested this time

I was offered one due to my ethnicity. Im hispanic.

I’m having it as my BMI was 1 mark over And my last was a big baby. You’ll only be offered it if BMI is higher than the mark Big baby before Family history Ethnicity

Im having it due to PCOS

I got tested in my first pregnancy as baby was supposedly measuring very large (he turned out to be big but not as large as they thought). Haven't been offered it this time as yet x

I am having the test in October, the only reason for me is because my previous boy was 9lb12oz my bmi etc is all fine x

I was flagged as needing one due to my last baby being bigger but this babies tummy also measured over the 97th percentile at 20 week scan to flagged for needing it aswell. It usually goes of risk factors like bmi, family history of diabetes etc x

I didn’t fit into any of the boxes, but was offered it as they found glucose in the samples at appointments.
