Honestly don’t stress ! I had my 2hr test and I think gestational diabetes has to do with the placenta so not your fault. Not sure if that’s true lmao do your research

You just drink a drink and then sit there and wait.

You fast 8-12 hrs prior. Go in and get your blood drawn drink 100mg glucose drink within 5 minutes then have 3 more lab draws an hour apart. They are measuring how your body process the sugar and each hour a specific range they are looking for. While there are some predetermined factors that make it more likely for you to have gestational diabetes, there is still a lot they don’t know. Typically if you are diagnosed it’s managed my diet control and monitoring your blood sugar. Some women need medication but that would be up to your provider and results of tests. I have my 3 hr tomorrow. I have 2 other children and have never failed my 1 hr prior.

During pregnancy we are more exposed to get Diabetes because of the placenta, if in your genes runs diabetes is more likely you’ll get it during pregnancy. This not because of what you eat. This is something about your genes and your placenta. This is my second baby and ive failed both of my tests with my first baby and this one. Unfortunately by the end of this pregnancy im going to come out diabetic. :( Is kinda hard because you cant eat what you’re craving. 🥲

@Karina why do you think that you will end up being diabetic afterwards?

Well I have my 1 hour test first just my experience my sugar came back high so they thought I had gestational diabetes so the thing to do next was to do the 3 hour sugar test but thank God fortunately it came back negative so usually they have their reasons for doing the three hour you may want to ask them if the one hour came back high for sugar but other than that nothing to worry about we all have to go through it I am 29 weeks now so I understand the fear but you will be fine may all the blessings come to you from the most high 🥰🤗💖

@Franny Unfortunately is not what I think. Is a fact. Bc after my first pregnancy i came out pre-diabetic. To become diabetic is a 6.4 and i was at 6.3 i tried so hard to Lower it but i couldn’t. And i got diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes with this pregnancy at 13 weeks. So my doctor said i got diagnosed really early with diabetes. So is a fact that by now Diabetes wont go away after pregnancy. They say that if you eat healthy and do excercise during pregnancy it’ll go away. But for me it was really hard. My levels were always at 70-90mg/dl no more than that. There was never a high reading. But i still got prediabetic :( and now Diabetic

I just did the more natural one( I go to midwives) it was a breeze- stopped eating 2 hours before drank a more natural one that tasted like lemonade in 5 mins , waited an hour, drew blood- had results back the next day by 12 pm. Honestly I don’t know why people would ever go the route of what is suggested by traditional medicine when this option is much easier, works just as well and is way healthier.🤷🏼‍♀️ From what I’ve heard gestational diabetes can happen to anyone- I eat really healthy and workout a lot- but also have been taking best supplements every day to support my placenta :)

Just did mine yesterday and I had the fruit punch. It actually didn’t taste bad just like a flat soda. I bought my AirPods and just watched some videos on my phone during the wait and the time went by. I did take the 1 hour earlier in my pregnancy (11 weeks) because diabetes runs in my family; however, gestational diabetes is usually caused by the placenta and some studies say if dad has diabetes it can increase your chances for gestational diabetes.
