Birth centre?

For a number of personal reasons, my birth reference is to be in the birth centre at my local hospital. After a meeting with a consultant today, I've been told I don't fit the criteria and midwives wouldn't allow me onto the birth centre. Has anyone else been told they won't be accepted into a birth centre due to their GD diagnosis? Mine is fully managed with diet control and baby is measuring fine. According to lots of reading and research I've done, as well as being told by the midwife running our antenatal classes, I am not at any higher risk.

Yes I’m in the same situation and they’ve agreed for me to go to the birth centre but said that it’s ‘against advice’. I’m diet controlled with a baby measuring average size.

@Danielle thank you so much. I tried to ask if I could go against advice too but they said the midwives would refuse me, which doesn't feel likely? Really helpful to know you're in the same situation and really glad they agreed for you to go to the centre. Thank you for sharing x

i’m in this same situation. consultant said no birthing center and will most likely have to be induced but diabetic midwife said it should be fine as long as baby measures fine and GD is diet controlled 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

@lu I'm really sorry you're going through the same thing. It's mad how the midwives opinion is so different from the consultant isn't it. My thinking at the moment is it's the midwives who will decide on the day...so I'm going to ask my midwives again next week seeing as they are the ones who I expect will make the call? 🤔 Really good news that your baby is measuring fine and all diet controlled as well x
