I rang my GP, who then advised me to simply self-refer to the hospital I wished to give birth at. I did this by going on the hospital website and filling in their self referral form. I’ve not had any pregnancy-related stuff happen at my GP. It’s all been at the hospital or at my midwife (which is a community midwife centre). So you can ring your GP and they will advise you, but really if you know your local hospital is where you wanna give birth you can also just refer yourself on their website to cut out the middle man, so to speak. Only takes a few seconds and they’ll get back to you with a booking appointment within a couple of weeks
Congratulations! I just rang my GP surgery at about 7ish weeks and asked for the contact details of the midwife team. They have just announced you can self refer to maternity services, there’s a link on their Facebook page a few days ago (which is on the Torbay Hospital website too) x
