Front teeth gap - with skin?

Was looking at my son's teeth while he was asleep and noticed the skin from his inner lip going in between the teeth. Has anyone's LO had this happen? Should I take him to the dentist or doctor?

It’s a lip tie. My son had one and we had it revised by a dentist.

Looks like lip tie to me! I’d consult dentist here to be sure 🦷

Lip tie. Both my kids have them. Dentist or pediatrician can look at it if you have concerns. My kids are good eaters, so we left it alone. They can cause speech issues, among other things, so I reached out to an SLP friend. She said if eating and growth are going well, it shouldn’t cause issues. She sent me a really good article about ties. It's normal, if it was a lip tie you wouldn't be able to pull the top lip up to see the teeth.

Check with your doctor. There are different levels of lip ties. My son has a very minor one and your sons could be too. But sometimes they can cause gaps and speech problems. Better sade to have them take a peek and get peace of mind.

@Mallory he's eating and growing good. Babels alot too. Thanks for the article. Do your kids still have it though? Like does it go down when they'll lose their teeth?

My daughter had this and the pediatric dentist said it was normal and the flap is skin will shrink as she grows. Just check with your dentist to be sure

My kids are 3m and 3 years. It’s become smaller as my 3 year old has grown. I think the article talks about how it’s a normal part of the mouth.
