Preferred Birth control options

What is everyone preferred birth control options? I tried the pill for like 8 years did not like the way it made my body feel. My Dr offered the IUD Mirena, but all the side effects are nerve wracking, like implanting in the uterus if you are breastfeeding which I am. What is y’all’s favorite?

I got the nextplanon they offered the iud but I heard about how women still got pregnant on the iud and it came out during birth on the baby head

I had my Nexplanon inserted before my discharge after delivery.

@Alaysia they inserted mines right after they closed me up from c-section

I prefer the nexplanon, I got pregnant 3 times on the pill and lost all 3. Since it hasn’t been 3 years since I had the last one put in my Medicaid won’t pay for it until next year so I had to go with the patch since I don’t trust the pill, I just put the first one on Thursday so not sure how it is yet.

Those with nexaplanon, did you have any side effects?

We do natural family planning. No added hormones or anything, and if you’re using it correctly it’s just as effective as bc.

Do the copper iud!! I think it’s called paragaurd, you still get your period with it but it’s non hormonal, the periods are more intense at the start but then it goes back to normal. I didn’t have to worry or think abt taking a pill. I had mine for 3 years and it worked well

@Mary when I had my first one it hurt for about a minute once probably a month or so after but after that nothing else. Sometimes I’d go a couple months without a period and when I did get one they weren’t as bad as they used to be. But that’s just my experience

I just got the nexplanon, tried the pill before I was pregnant and now I’m here with a son🤣

@Mary no side effects besides irregular period for the first few months. No bloating, nausea or headaches.

Did anyone have issues with weight gain? I knew a few people that got nexplanon and they gained weight.
