Has anyone took those pills that delays periods before?

I got a holiday coming up with my toddler and partner and I’m so excited it’s our first holiday abroad all together! I’m due my period literally the day we go and I get such bad cramps, I saw you can take pills to delay periods I’m thinking of getting but worried if they have bad side effects. Has anyone used them before and what were your experiences? Thank you!

What are they called?

I have! Many years ago, can’t remember the name but the GP prescribed them. I was fine taking them but when I stopped I became super emotional for a few weeks for no reason and struggled with that. I can only relate it to that pill as I was otherwise fine. I personally would not take them again. Everyone is different though so do what you think is best 😊x

I'm trying to figure out if you are on about transanemic acid?

Oh wow never heard of them!!! Since having the implant in my arm I do nothing but bleed!!! I doubt the tablets will work for me x

My sister took them for her holiday with my parents as she really struggles with her periods too. GP advised her wrong on when to start so it only stopped midway 🤦🏻‍♀️ but she didn't have any ill effects or anything. You have to start taking them a few days before it's due though?! I think, so maybe get on getting an appointment so you have them ready!

I had them last year and I got bad side effects of not ovulating or having a period for over a year. So so actually go careful with what you’re taking.

I’m on progesterone to regulate my periods after having constant bleeding when taking the contraceptive pill, I take it on the 5th day of my cycle and then take it for 21 days and then my period starts like 2 weeks later , I haven’t had any side effects from it at all and it literally stops my bleeding after the first day taking it x

@Jess I wonder if my GP will do this for me? After having the implant I'm constantly on my period!

@Jen definitely speak to them about it ! I was bleeding pretty heavily for a month and it was awful! I have to take the progesterone for 3 months and then I can try a different type of contraception x

I’ve used them twice to delay my period on holiday. They worked great! No side effects at all and was able to enjoy my holiday. Just had to remember to take them as they need to be taken 3xday. Got my period 2-3 days after stopping. I got mine from Superdrug online

Only if you absolutely feel like you have to. My friend suffered through imbalances for almost a year afterward.
