ACS playing in my face

Tell me how after all the work I went through to fill out this paperwork for a daycare voucher. Despite the fact that income wise I am under the max. Being 72K, and I make a little over 50K. I finally get my voucher and they approved all of $6. $6 yall!! 6 whole dollars. Out of the 950 monthly bill that I have. The possibilities of what I will be able to do with all that money that I now will be saving! Thank you Jesus!! šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„ UPDATE: thanks to the women on this app, I read the voucher wrong, and actually only have to PAY $6 a month. But Iā€™ll let this up for a reference/guidance for anyone who comes across it. Thank you ladies

Can you upload a picture of it because from my understanding when you receive the approval amount the amount thatā€™s on there is what you have to contribute

@Ivonne really?! Let me upload it right now!!!!

YESSS GIRL ALL YOU HAVE YOU PAY $6 for your weekly fee !!! Congrats

I think income before taxes has to be like 52k? I make 62 and thought I DONT qualify for anything.

@Anela it depends how many people are in the household

Your weekly fee for child care is $6 so that's all you're paying

My old friend got the same exact voucher and hers was a dollar and she freaked out thinking the same thing. I was like no sweety you're only paying $1 for his daycare and she cried she was so relieved lol

@Leslie omg!!! Girl I was so confused!! lol Mad too lol. Iā€™m so glad cuz I was like why dod they waste their time.. I was about to send them a donation šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤Ŗlike ā€œyou need this more than meā€

Lmao yeah it is pretty confusing especially because of how the voucher looks so I totally get it! Congratulations!

@Ivonne I'm not married so 1 just me

But like is it before taxes or after taxes that's considered?

@Ivonne but who is two, me and the baby? And what happens if obviously she has a dad, do I consider him, do I have to?

@Anela if you are not married, and a childā€™s father does not contribute to your household or live in your household he does not count in here . You can go on the my city website and apply. When they mention household size or family size if itā€™s just you and your child, then itā€™s two people. Based on your income, you will qualify they wonā€™t ask about the other parent

@Anela yes Ivonne is right. My daughterā€™s father is on child support too and girlā€¦. Itā€™s a decent amount, but because Iā€™m not married and heā€™s not in my house,ā€˜itā€™s a household of 2 and so I qualify.

@Anela I also thought I didnā€™t qualify!! Because I thought the requirements were the same as food stamps which is LOW! I just decided in a wimp to look and I was like what do you know!!! Thatā€™s why initially I was mad cuz since I read the amount wrong lol

Omg this makes me worried for myself šŸ˜„

@Alina why ? Donā€™t be worried

@Ivonne i didnā€™t read the entire thread okay that sounds good because that is abt how much I make a year too. How soon do u apply for a voucher ? Iā€™m planning to stay w my baby til 6-8 months

If they gave you this you should have the vouchers (Iā€™m a daycare provider)

You have to take this form to the daycare and they fill it out they are paying it from 9/8 you have to pay $6 weekly tho

Got it! Thank you!! The daycare director said sheā€™d send it in. Is that common tho? Or is it more common for the person (me) who has the voucher to send it in? Or does it not matter

My parents always give the form or they upload it on the app but your child can start

$6 thatā€™s great! Just submitted my application few days ago.

Also everyone worried just lie on your application they donā€™t do a deep check

@Amillion the guy that got me Medicaid when I was pregnant fixed sooooo many things to get me approvedā€¦ you really gotta play the system for real

@Amillion I could never sleep at night, or is it just me??!

How long did they take to process your application? I submitted everything for mines 3 weeks ago. Just trying to see if it will take the full 6 weeks as they said.

@Mindy I submitted my application online August 8, then got an email saying I was approved the 6th, and just got the email yesterday September 9 as well as a letter of the voucher. So about 1 month. But it says that in the application process. That it will be about 4 weeks

@Anela for the Medicaid I let the man do it because in retrospect that would have been a $12,000 bill orherwise. For this I didnā€™t since I did qualify. I honestly feel so long as him and you Are not married you shouldnā€™t include him in anything you put down, taxes, programs, whatever. It will do more harm than good when looking for assistance and NYC isnā€™t one of those states that makes you put the noncustodial parent on child support to get any assistance

@Amillion Honestly this is bad advice because if they ever catch on that you've lied on your application, you could potentially have to pay back those benefits or be barred from every being allowed benefits again. Just not a good idea in my opinion. It's considered a fraud felony and can literally screw you for the rest of your life.

Okk thankss well hopefully I hear back next week which will make a month for me too.

@Leslie girl itā€™s daycare assistant they arenā€™t doing all that I have moms that are teachers struggling to pay daycare and have to be at work. If youā€™re scared thatā€™s on you but thatā€™s my opinion šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

@Anela the people that work in the office will do the same to help people. I donā€™t think you guys know how many people in middle class is struggling and they get no help because they make $100 over and itā€™s now considered that they make to much. But thatā€™s probably not your situation so itā€™s easy for you to sleep at night šŸ˜Š

@Amillion all government funded programs that help with assistance are linked. Once you lie on one thing, they're gonna assume you've lied on all of them. And it can effect your ability to receive help and benefits in the future. You're also pretty much telling people to commit fraud which is not good advice. I was a teaching assistant, I get it, shit is tough with child care but I couldn't imagine giving someone advice like this because it will impact you for the rest of your life if and when you do get caught. Just some food for thought.
