fit to fly

has anyone travelled 28 weeks pregnant without a fit to fly. my midwife told me i could get it signed by my doctor today at the antenatal clinic but apparently they don’t sign them anymore, i went to my doctors and rang midwife’s and they all said it had to be a gp but i fly tomorrow and can’t get seen that soon by one.

I saw you can get them online! I haven’t tried it but if you search fit to fly letter lots of companies pop up. I also travelled at 28 and 29 weeks without one. If someone says something you can always say you’re not pregnant.

I flew at 32 weeks without one. I had the same issue with neither my midwife or doctor willing to sign one (even though I was low risk and told by my midwife I was safe to fly). I just hid my bump at the check in desk 😂

I personally wouldn’t risk it. You don’t want to get stuck abroad and not able to fly back!!

@Ash i’ve seen them but didn’t know if they was legit x

@Naomi yeah same with me i have no complications i just can’t get one that soon with me flying tomorrow, i was going to do that and just wear a big jumper😂 what airline did you fly with x

I hid my bump and flew at 26,28 and 31 weeks and hoping to make the flight back home at 33 weeks lol. My doctor and midwife both said it wasn't their job to sign them and I didn't want to pay for the online one!! I flew with Ryanair and easyJet

I was asked for mine at 31 weeks both ways. Even on the way back at 32 weeks with a fit to fly they were so hesitant to let me on. They asked me so many questions before they did x

I wouldn’t risk it. As well as issues with flights it may also invalidate certain aspects of travel insurance if you don’t get one

i don’t understand how you prove how far along you are to them anyways it only says my due date on badger notes

EasyJet let you fly until 36 weeks. I took one with me issued by my midwife for a flight to Morocco and back a couple of weeks ago - when I was 29 weeks - and no one even asked for it

I flew with Tui and just made sure I had decent insurance! Where are you going? X

@Naomi i’m going with jet 2, and majorca im only going for 5 days aswell x

I did I just lied about how many weeks I was 😭

I flew at 29weeks. I had a fit to fly statement by my midwife, but no one asked to see it. (I flew virgin atlantic)

@Ashanti do they not ask for proof, do they just say like okay and let you on 😂😂

I just changed the dates on my flo app on the way there. Then on the way back when they asked me I just said 26 weeks with no hesitation. I don’t think they’ll say you don’t look how many weeks you say because it’s deemed a rude thing to say to a pregnant woman 😂

If you have access to private healthcare you could ask for one.

If they think the bump looks too big they make ask for evidence. I would just wear really bagging outfit

I flew a couple of weeks ago at 28 weeks with TUI, and wasn’t asked anything - I don’t think the airline staff even registered I was pregnant! Couldn’t get a fit to fly from midwife or GP, neither said they did them anymore. I actually took my MatB1 form and one of the hospital scan letters which states the due date, as TUI only ask for a fit to fly after 28 weeks and I was on the cusp. Just check your Ts + Cs on travel insurance, I don’t think mine actually mentioned weeks, just what was covered by the insurance policy x

It depends on your airline. Jet 2 needs one if you’re 27 weeks, Ryanair needs one from 28 and easyJet is 32 weeks. Just came back from a travelling trip round Europe and flew with all 3 of these companies. They all were very different about it

@Ashanti that’s true but some people don’t care if they’re rude do they 😂

@Gemma it’s so stupid cos how are you supposed to get them if no one signs them, and they don’t even need their own just the one from my airline, literally requires a signature and stamp, i don’t even have a spare copy of my MatB1 the only copy is with my employer and don’t have a letter confirming the due date either it’s all just on my badger app so i wouldn’t even know how to prove it even if i was under 28😂 yeah my insurance doesn’t state it x
