Carbon monoxide levels high - non smoker

Hi, I’m a non smoker, my family are all non smokers and I just had a midwife appt showing a high level of carbon monoxide. (6-10), tested 3 times on 2 devices. They’ve said to call the gas line to have my home checked but we only have one gas appliance and co2 results have always been low in previous appointments (1-2). Has anyone had this and what did you do? I’m freaking out as some not very encouraging things come up when you do a Google search. 👀 Thanks x

A friend had this. It turns out their boiler was leaking carbon monoxide, so it’s definitely worth checking!

I would get a home meter to check your levels in your house, boiler could be leaking x

We have a gas man coming out in an hour. Hopefully get some answers x thank you girls

Very lucky this has been picked up, if your boiler has been leaking there’s no signs until it’s too late. x

This happened to a friend of mine and same as above, there was a problem with the applicance!

Get the gas appliance checked but if that’s ok there could be something specific to you making you produce more CO. I had this confusion and panic and came to discover after referrals that due to a rare blood condition I produce high CO levels! And it is of no risk to me or the baby. Midwifes can panic as it’s beyond their medical knowledge but the consultants were very relaxed about it.

I had this in my first pregnancy. We had the whole house checked. Which was fine. Midwife said it’s possibly the car we can in as I went in a taxi. Never happened again. Always worth all the checks at home 😊

@Sheila thank you. I’m really freaking myself out about it. Boiler is getting serviced today and our gas has been capped (no sign of a leak though). Think I may try her another breath test done at gp for me, my husband and son. X

@Georgie I panicked and got rechecked a few days later and was fine. 🤞🏻it improves

There was a girl before who was the same and it turned out to be from using her cooker etc with no ventilation. I always open the window when using mine but she never ever opened windows at all in the day xx
