Blood sugar levels after a snack?

So I've just got my monitor, and I'm wondering what should your blood sugar levels be after a snack? They told me what they should be after meals but I would like to find out what snacks are the best option for me. I had a cereal bar and my levels came back as 4.2 an hour after eating and I thought that was a little low? What is the standard range after a snack?

I was never told to do my bloods after snacks, only meals so not sure. I know after meals is below 7.8 and fasting bloods first thing on a morning before breakfast is anything below 5.3. I’d say it’s probably a good thing if you’re at 4.2! I can’t get anywhere near that even without food 😂

I wasn't told to either but I got curious. Think I'm just trying to chance my arm and see what snacks I have to give up 😂

lol I feel like I’m literally giving up everything. I’ve cut carbs right down and all they keep saying is don’t go carb free but cut down more. Like girrrrrrl I can’t cut them down any more without cutting them out, you’re killing me here! I’m 27+4 and it feels like such a long time to stick to this til she’s here! 😩

I have had GD twice and never tested after snacks

@Sarah I thought my life was over when I got the call saying I tested positive. The last few days have been killer never mind the rest of the pregnancy. I don't know how some of you's do it!!!

I cried 3 times in my first appointment to get meds on Friday 😂 I’m already on various meds and now this 🙄 it’s the diet changes that kill me more than anything though. I can’t wait for a Chinese after I give birth 😂 it’s my 40th birthday 13 days before she’s due and this means they’ll probably induce me a few weeks early now so silver lining of GD,I might get a birthday glass of fizz now 😂

@Emily i was wondering more for person reasons, I would like to know what food I tolerate better than others. Obviously higher reading after snacks would lead to higher readings prior to meals

@Sarah I love a Chinese too! With the carbs, have you worked out which ones work for you and which don’t? For me, broke bread and baby potatoes are fine so, I’ve been eating that but smaller portion. Rice spiked me so I’ve kept clear of that and haven’t tired either pasta but think I’d be the same with it as with rice. Maybe you could try them out and then cut the one which spikes you and keep smaller portions of the ones that don’t? I also ordered some sugar free biscuits from Amazon and some are quite nice as well as keto chocolate cake mix x

@Maneek bread spikes me,even wholemeal 😩 small portions of potato seem to be ok but then other days aren’t 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve only had a small bit of rice once and haven’t tried pasta yet so it’s all a guessing game.

@Sarah that’s annoying when it’s diff on diff days

@Maneek yeah I had a protein bagel with low sugar peanut butter on Sunday (6.2) and when I had the same on Monday it was 8.8 🙄 like FFS!!!

@Sarah 😩 it’s all so weird. I went out for a meal last week and had hunters chicken with chips and even had half an apple crumble dessert and I was under. Another night I had chicken tikka with salad and some chips again and I was 9!

How the hell did you eat hunters chicken and crumble and have a good reading?! I’m so jel! 😂

@Sarah I honestly have no idea! But then chips another night sent me high!
