How have mums found the balance between work and motherhood?

I'm currently considering going back to work and nursery options. The thing is, with where my work is, I'll be leaving home at 8am and wouldn't be home until 6pm, and feel like I will be missing so much time with my little one. We could just about afford for me not to work but it would make finances very tight, but with the cost of nurseries, all I really gain from working is not having a gap on the cv. Interested to hear other people's experiences?

For my family, it’s worth it for me to work so that we can have a higher income and better quality of life. I am the breadwinner and my job provides Benefits. It has been very hard though, now being a mom. My best advice is to work when you’re working and mom when you’re momming. I don’t try to do both at the same time. If baby is sick I will just take a day off and hang out with him. I have a great daycare provider and I trust her, and try to just focus on work when I’m working. Another piece of advice is to outsource where you can. Budget depending, things like grocery delivery or pick up, house cleaners etc have been a lifesaver. But we can only afford that if I am working haha. That’s what works best for our family but everybody has a different situation.
