We are HOME ❤️❤️❤️

Gypsy has come home finally after jumping g thru hoops since I moved out 8 months ago! I’m so happy to have her here. I do have a question tho! She has more freedom living with me, and I’m curious if she will learn to go to the door when she has to go potty and not pee in my house? She’s peed twice since I brought her home and she’s gone out like 6 times since we got home around 7:30pm. This last time she peed it was on my area rug. So now it’s hanging on my back porch (does anyone know how I can clean it) Gypsy is also 13 years old, idk if that has anything to do with it but I just don’t want my house to smell like pee 🤣🤣 I’ve mopped the floors immediately after she’s peed and took her outside right after I cleaned it.

They sell cleaning/no go sprays at any pet store or Walmart. Her being in a new environment plus her age could have something to do with her having accidents. Give her time to adjust and see if that helps

@KC I’ll look at the store tomorrow! I know with being in a new environment I was unsure if I should let her stay out of her kennel the next few nights or not. She’s currently asleep on her bed in front of the tv but I can move it to the kennel when I take her potty the last time tonight.

@Kim i would have her in the kennel only if she associates it as a safe space. But also only do it for the overnight/when you aren't home until she gets situated

Unfortunately where she was staying she was in the kennel constantly unless she was going outside for the past few months. No fault of her own, my mom has a slipped disc in her neck so it was hard for her to have her try to be a lap dog :/ so I’m not sure if she considers it a safe place or not. I know if it’s thundering that’s where she always ran to.

@Kim then i think for a couple hours overnight she will be fine. Gradually introduce her being out. It might be that she just isn't used to being out and about anymore and she associates being out of the kennel with going potty

That’s very possible. I will move her to the kennel when I take her out after this episode of what I’m watching, that’ll probably be closer to midnight. I just don’t want her to think “oh I’m in a new place but still stuck in a kennel.” That would never be the case. She’s gonna start coming on car rides as often as possible, taking her to town events we have as long as there is no fireworks, hikes, walks, ect. She’s gonna have the life she should’ve always been able to have (I adopted her 3 years ago from an animal shelter, I could never get a clear answer on her back story, both stories however had the common thing saying she was aggressive and terrorizing people. She has never shown that she has a mean bone in her body.
